so even though he struggles to overcome it, amon can resist bloodbending

meaning that either he’s just that powerful enough to move despite it, or that his body, or at least a part of it, does not have blood to bend, and is made up of some other substance

what a puzzler

Twin Body Reactions

I think there’s been a slight case of misandry in the fandom again with the bottom scene. Mako was a bit out of line today (with slightly good reason), but most of the fandom has jumped on him calling him a: douche, ass, jerk, horrible, and that he doesn’t deserve Korra. When Korra said basically the same thing, everyone cheered about her being aggressive and getting her man and being amazing.

Mako, at this point, has probably spent more time overall with Asami. The time he’s spent with Korra has been about tournaments, practice, saving his brother, and then romantic drama. If he hadn’t acted out against something over a person he presumably cares about a lot, I think that would be grounds for being a bigger jerk than he was. Of course he’s going to poke her where he think it’ll hurt, because he knows it’s true and Korra is hurting someone he really likes.

So yeah, Mako wasn’t very mature this episode, but when you’re mad and not thinking right, the wrong things come out. Especially with teenagers. But can we not lay all the blame on one person and not give it back to another just because it’s a different circumstance?

If the comment makes one person an asshat, it makes the other person an asshat too.

i dont think thats the case. take the situation into consideration.

at the top, korra has already admitted her feelings to mako and he rejected her.

she thinks hes jealous because she and his brother went on a date. its a harmless remark to a man who is so obviously jealous. mako was jealous. she called him out

at the bottom, korra has reason to be suspicius of mr sato, and its her duty to do whats right and get to the botton of the equalist problem. mako thinks shes jealous of them and thats the sole reason that she suspects mr sato.

korra didnt go to the police because she was jealous of asami. she went to the police because he said some shady shit and she has reason to believe hes got somthing going on

he says it to hurt her, to make her feel bad. he actually thinks Korra is so petty that she would call a police force to raid their home just to spite asami. he thinks korra is so hung up on him that she would take such drastic measures to inconvininece his girlfriend

korra calling mako jealous about a date is harmless

mako calling korra jealous in this situation is just him taking a serious matter and making it about him. the equalists are a serious problem but mako wont see reason. let korra do her job as avatar and stay out of it.

I’m sorry but Mako continues to disappoint and frustrate me. He was so egotistical this episode in thinking that Korra was on pursuing her investigation because of her “jealousy” of his and Asami’s relationship. But to compound matters he had the nerve to say that their friendship would be over if she didn’t drop her duties for him.
I’m sorry, this is the girl that came into your team when you lost a player. That put her life in danger and helped rescue your brother. That saved your pro-bending team numerous times and offered you a place to live. Korra has done so much for him, but the second they disagree strongly on something, he gives her an ultimatum.
Not cool Mako, not cool.

I have to say that while Mako definitely redeemed himself a little at the end, this guy needs to grow the fuck up soon.
I mean, I completely understood why he’d be annoyed/skeptical of Korra’s accusations at first and try to defend Asami and her father - neither of them have given any reason for him not to trust them, and he knows Korra still harbors feelings for him. So while I didn’t necessarily like his reaction, it makes sense and I’m not going to hold it against him.
But when he said this…ugh. That was just such a hurtful and immature way to deal with this. Korra even tells him why she can’t drop it and instead of considering that she might just have a point, he just walks away.
I’m hoping that with them living at the Air Temple that he and Korra will bond some more and Mako will do some growing up - we still have yet to hear more about Mako and Bolin’s lives on the street (how Mako didn’t have a childhood, how he sheltered Bolin, how the streets toughened him up, etc) and we keep getting little snippets of their status throughout the series. In this episode, Hiroshi says something like “the worst of all this was that my daughter was hanging around a firebending street rat like you!” and Korra runs in to tell them that they won’t have to go back on the streets in the beginning. I don’t know how, but I’d like that to somehow affect his development and maturity over the next 5 episodes.
I agree with the opinion that Mako doesn’t quite value her like he does Asami or Bolin or anyone else - yes, he said she’s infuriating and he obviously has some issues with ignorant/privileged upbringing. We’ve gotten a few indicators that suggest that he really does care about her (unnecessarily protecting her from the 3-on-1 attack in e5, running over to hug her after she was saved by Lin, the look on his face after Korra went down into the tunnel in e6, his very sincere apology at the end of the ep) but then there are times like this where he throws her under the bus because he think she’s being immature or wrong. Ughh I don’t know. I think Mako really cares about her and just doesn’t know how to handle her or what to do with her (along with some underlying issues yet to be discussed, like his past and pro-bending and etc), and that in the upcoming eps he’s going to be faced with a situation from which he sees just how much Korra means to him and how she’s pretty much only ever tried to do the best for him and Bolin.
so uh basically, boy needs to start valuing and treating korra like a real friend and get all his feelings/issues/beliefs set straight.
also korra why do you still like him after all this
i mean besides e3 you guys haven’t bonded or hung out that extensively so yeah
let’s hope this is addressed too

Just watched episode 7 of Legend of Korra

jasjuliet:

TENZIN. TENZIN AND YOUR…YOUR AIR CYCLE. DERN.

The twenty-some seconds of him fighting, that moment when he slows Korra’s fall…too pretty.

Bolin, you were meant for pampered life. Bolin, I love your intimidation tactics.

Mako…Mako, stop assuming that any disagreement that involves Korra and Asami is engendered with hurting you as endgame.

Mako, thanks for your adorable sneeze of death, because :megusta:

Also, thank you for apologizing Mako.

Korra, thank you for being a freaking mature young woman. ILY bb.

Tahno. Come back before the season finale pls.

Lin you beast. Remove your shoes more often.

Cabbage Corp. I love you so much. I love you and your cabbages. And your technology.

Republic City, why is there a statue of you, but not one of Sokka?

Also, I want more cloud babies. And Pema. And Pemzin.

Bryke, thank you for this episode.

Amen.

REALLY

I MEAN STOP

ASAMI ISN’T A BENDER

HOW THE FUCK COULD SHE HAVE HELPED

LIKE I KNOW YOU SHIP MAKORRA BUT

REALLY

THE STADIUM WAS COLLAPSING

PANIC EVERYWHERE

AND YOU WANT THIS NON-BENDER

TO DO SOMETHING

BUT IF SHE DOESN’T SHE MUST BE AN EQUALIST

IT DOESN’T WORK THAT WAY

So…. did anyone notice that Tenzin did absolutely nothing in terms of bending?

nerdydyke:

It was all Lin and Korra being bad asses. Tenzin could have used air to fly up there or at least catch Korra when she fell.

Maybe Tenzin was busy evacuating the spectators?
